Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I exceed my visitor limit?

Your experiments will continue running without interruption, but new visitors won't be bucketed into experiment segments once you've reached your monthly limit. These visitors will see the standard version of your site, exactly as it would appear if no experiment were running. Your existing bucketed users will continue to see their assigned variants, ensuring data consistency. We'll send you email notifications when you approach 80% and 100% of your limit, giving you time to upgrade or purchase additional visitor capacity as an add-on. Historical data and analytics remain fully accessible regardless of visitor limits.

Can I change plans anytime?

Yes! You have complete flexibility to upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time. When you upgrade, the change takes effect immediately and you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your billing cycle. If you downgrade, the change will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and you'll continue to enjoy your current plan's features until then. Your data, experiments, and configurations are preserved during plan changes. If you need to switch between different tiers mid-cycle, our support team can help facilitate the transition smoothly.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover for our standard plans. Enterprise and custom plan customers have additional payment options including ACH bank transfers, wire transfers, and purchase orders for annual contracts. All payments are processed securely through Stripe, and we're PCI DSS compliant. For customers requiring invoice-based billing rather than automatic charges, this option is available on Business tier and above. International customers can pay in their local currency, and we handle all currency conversions automatically.

How does the custom plan work?

Our custom plan builder allows you to configure exactly the capacity you need using the interactive calculator above. Simply adjust the sliders for monthly visitors, active projects, and simultaneous experiments to match your requirements, and the price updates in real-time. Once you've built your ideal configuration, click 'Contact Sales' and our team will reach out within 2 business hours. We'll finalize the details, discuss any specific requirements you have, and can have your custom plan activated within 24 hours. Custom plans include dedicated onboarding, priority support, and flexible billing terms. Volume discounts are available for large-scale implementations.

Is there a free trial? What happens after it ends?

Yes! Every paid plan includes a full-featured 14-day free trial with no credit card required upfront. During your trial, you'll have access to all features of your selected tier, including advanced analytics, visual editor, and full technical support. We'll send you reminder emails at 7 days and 1 day before your trial ends. When the trial period concludes, you'll be prompted to enter payment information to continue service. If you don't upgrade, your account will automatically revert to the Free tier, and your data will be preserved for 90 days. You can export all your experiment data and analytics at any time during or after your trial.

What kind of support do I get with each plan?

Our support levels scale with your plan to ensure you get the help you need. Free tier users have access to our comprehensive documentation, video tutorials, and community forums. Professional and Business tiers include email support with response times of 48 hours and 24 hours respectively, plus access to our knowledge base and live chat during business hours. Enterprise customers receive priority support with a dedicated account manager, 4-hour response time guarantee, phone support, and quarterly business reviews. All paid plans include onboarding assistance, and we offer additional professional services for custom integrations and advanced implementation.

Can I use Segmently on multiple websites?

Absolutely! Each project in your account corresponds to a unique website or application. You can run experiments across all your projects simultaneously, and each project gets its own API key for tracking. The Free tier includes 1 project, Professional includes 5 projects, Business includes 15 projects, and Enterprise offers unlimited projects. Each project maintains separate analytics, experiment configurations, and visitor tracking. You can organize projects by brand, product line, or any structure that makes sense for your business. Team permissions can be configured per-project for granular access control.

How does data retention work? Can I export my data?

Data retention varies by tier: Free accounts retain experiment data for 30 days, Professional for 90 days, Business for 365 days, and Enterprise offers unlimited retention with automatic archiving. Regardless of your plan, you can export all your data at any time in standard formats including CSV, JSON, and Excel. Exports include raw event data, aggregated analytics, visitor segments, and experiment configurations. Enterprise customers can set up automated data exports to their own data warehouse or analytics platform through our API. All historical data remains accessible even if you downgrade, though new data collection follows your current plan's retention policy.

Is my data secure? Are you GDPR compliant?

Security and privacy are our top priorities. We're fully GDPR, CCPA, and SOC 2 Type II compliant, with regular third-party security audits. All data is encrypted in transit (256-bit SSL) and at rest (AES-256 encryption). We never sell or share your data with third parties, and you maintain complete ownership of all your experiment data and visitor information. Our infrastructure runs on AWS with automatic backups, redundancy across multiple availability zones, and 99.9% uptime SLA. Enterprise customers can opt for dedicated database instances, custom data residency locations, and HIPAA compliance for healthcare applications. We provide Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) for all paid customers.

What's the difference between experiments and projects?

Projects represent individual websites or applications where you want to run experiments. Think of a project as a container for a specific digital property - it could be your main website, mobile app, or subdomain. Each project gets its own unique API key and tracking setup. Experiments are the actual A/B tests you run within a project. For example, you might have one project for 'E-commerce Store' with multiple experiments like 'Checkout Button Color Test', 'Pricing Page Layout Test', and 'Homepage Hero Test' running simultaneously. Your plan limits determine how many projects you can create (number of distinct properties) and how many experiments you can run at the same time across all projects.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all new subscriptions. If you're not satisfied with Segmently for any reason within the first 30 days, contact our support team and we'll issue a full refund, no questions asked. After the initial 30 days, we don't provide refunds for unused portions of monthly subscriptions, but you can cancel anytime and won't be charged for the following month. For annual subscriptions (when available), refunds are prorated based on unused months within the first 90 days. Enterprise contracts have custom terms negotiated during the sales process. We're confident you'll love Segmently, but if something isn't working for you, let us know and we'll make it right.

Can I run experiments on mobile apps or just websites?

Segmently works seamlessly on both websites and mobile applications! Our JavaScript snippet integrates easily into any web-based platform, including single-page applications (React, Vue, Angular), traditional multi-page sites, and e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento). For native mobile apps (iOS and Android), our SDK supports both platforms with simple integration. Experiments can be run across different platforms simultaneously - you could test a feature on your website, iOS app, and Android app all as part of the same experiment with unified analytics. The visual editor works for web platforms, while mobile experiments are configured through code-based variants. Enterprise customers get access to our React Native and Flutter SDKs.
